Baby Photo Shoot for Essex Mother & Baby show 2012

Vote for Fraser - but you have to follow the link as only likes to his photo directly on the Essex Mother and Baby show count!

Fraser is a semi finalist to be the face of the show and if his photo gets the most likes (it HAS to be the one on the Essex Mother & Baby Show page on Facebook, NOT here)  he will win £250 to spend at the show. Well his Mummy will ;-)

Obviously I am biased as I photographed him, but he is a little cutie :-) The competition closes this Monday September 10th at 5 p.m. Thank you!

Model search! For a fun baby shoot with a difference :-)

Hip-beach
I am seeking two cute babies up to the age of 8 months - in other words still happy to sit :-) Free session and NO obligation to do anything else. I need examples of hipstimatic/instragram baby photos to illustrate a piece I am writing for the Essex Baby Show to demonstrate how to take great photos of your baby on your phone using some of the apps available.

This won't be a standard shoot, but it will be fun and as I use these apps a lot for personal work so I'm confident of some quirky results. There's an example of one above from a recent trip to the beach with friends.

If you are interested please call 01279 433392. Shoots will take place this Friday September 7th at 2.30 p.m. and I'll need about an hour of your time. You must be happy for the photos to be used publicly including on the web.

Thanks!

The Great Big British Portrait Marathon Photographs

Photographs from the Great Big British Portrait Marathon are available here, with the option to purchase a print if you wish at a "never to be repeated" special price of £5 e.a. And if my Accountant sees this I am in BIG trouble :-)

Overall I photographed over 100 people, several dogs & cats and a chicken! My event raised over £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support, but the national event - The Great Big British Portrait Marathon - of which I was one cog/studio raised in excess of £8k and nearly 4,500 people had their photographs taken in what was one of the largest ever portrait sessions!

My thanks to everyone who supported!

The Great Big British Portrait Marathon has ended!

Gbbpm-8868
Thank you to everyone who joined in, even if you weren't expecting to. I had a Bride & Groom pop in after their wedding, Tulip the chicken, and discovered that photographing dogs is much like photographing wriggly toddlers - both can be bribed with biscuits or a ball! I bet the squeaky toys work just as well too :-)

A massive thank you to Mike Jackson (above with me) for taking the time out to bring the Olympic torch down and letting us use it for photographs. Overall I photographed over 100 people and raised £244.91 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Yay!

Photographs from the Great Big British Portrait Marathon weekend can be seen here.

Prints at a fiver each (plus postage at cost) can be ordered via this link.

Once again thank you! Sue

Baby photography ... latest work

The triple baby plan package that I offer is one of the most popular services that I offer, allowing new parents the opportunity to capture their new baby's key development stages in a beautiful folio. Below are some examples of photographs (my favourites) taken across a variety of client photo sessions in recent weeks.

Over the years I have shared many a baby's journey from babe in arms to cheeky toddler and beyond, and it's what makes photography life so much more enjoyable.

A portrait of a single baby, child, teenager or your pet taken at our photo session will be selected and entered into the Master Photographers Association Portrait of the Year Awards.

The winning portrait will receive £1,000 for the customer, when judging concludes in August 2012.

Any Professional Photographer may enter their client's images, and I will ask you to counter sign the entry form with me. The final selection for the competition and the entry fee will be made and paid for by me. Sessions are by appointment only, Tuesday to Friday. Sorry it is just not possible to make this offer available on a Saturday.

Session fee only £10: Studio or Parndon Mill Grounds

Shoots must be completed by Friday August 17th, 2012 to ensure I have sufficient time to print and submit each entry, with the winner being announced at the Master Photography Awards, October 2012.

This very special offer costs just £10. Not only am I offering you a session that would normally cost £25-75 for just £10, but there is the chance to win £1,000.

Most parents like to buy some extra prints, and if you would, I have devised some really good packages that are priced to suit every budget, but you will be under no pressure to buy anything.

To take advantage of this fantastic offer I need you to act fast, as space is limited. To book call 01279 433392 today and quote 'Win1k".

For the full terms and conditions of the MPA Wedding & Portrait competition please visit their website. Competition entry selection and entry fee paid by me. Sessions are by appointment only Tuesday to Friday. Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Location photography ... discovering new places

I thought I would share with you some photographs I took at a new location I recently discovered near by. I'm always on the look out for new places - just so I have places to suggest to clients and because I like the creative challenge of somewhere new. A chance conversation led me to this place and woodlands are by far my favourite settings for a location shoot.

We did walk past some fabulous spots, but such is the joy of photographing children! They will not always stop where you want them to, and I would rather go with the flow and wait until we find a spot we are both happy to linger in. Here is a selection of my favourite photographs from our photo session.

Toddler photography ... creating a collage

I love to create a collage or story board after a photo session  - and it's my far the most popular thing for parents to buy. Often it will contain an image the parents have rejected, but as the purpose of the collage is to capture their child's story at a moment in time, it needs to showcase their emerging personality with characterful portraits. And sometimes an portrait will work better in a collection, than on it's own.

This particular collage was created from photographs taken at this little girl's second session (of a triple session baby plan).

Baby photography ... the folio

Baby-plan-folio-example
This folio has just been collected by a happy mother. This little girl has been photographed three times over her first year'ish. I say ish because I prefer to time sessions for the key development stages, and those vary.

I just love the way they change - all innocent and snugly at the beginning and gradually getting cheekier as time goes by!

‘Quintessentially British’ – Vote for no.2

Below are the entries for our Photograph Competition! Please click on the image thumbnails to open the image gallery, this will enable you to see a larger picture and more details of the photograph. Take your time, there are lots of lovely photos to choose from. Once you’ve chosen your favourite you can vote by completing the form below. Please note, the images are displayed in a random order for fairness so please ensure you double check the number and title of the photo you would like to vote for, once cast votes cannot be changed.

Vote for no.2 - it's mine! Yes I'm biased, but I think all the rain at the time of submission influenced my decision to go for a seaside picture with a storm brewing! I just felt it was very British to be at the seaside in the rain, or blindly optimistic :-)
